80s Soap Opera Divas, Shoulder Pads & Fancy Dress Costumes

The Madonna 'Street Urchin" and "Wild Child" look along with neon and punk maybe some of the most popular 80s fancy dress costumes and ideas, and we will look at these options in future posts, but the 1980's was also a time of glamorous divas and power dressing in a number of soap operas and these offer fun fancy dress opportunities too.
80s TV was glamorised by American soap operas such as Dallas, Dynasty, Falcon Crest and Knots Landing and each of these had some powerful women who dressed accordingly. But perhaps it was Dynasty who had the greatest diva of them all in Alexis Carrington, who was played so well by Joan Collins. She transformed Dynasty and helped propel it to the top of the US ratings.
Alexis seemed to have a new dress or costume with each episode or even with each scene but the message was always the same – power and confidence! As a means of power dressing Alexis (and Krystle Carrington) used that 80s fashion icon – shoulder pads!
Smiffys have created a glamorous fancy dress costume in honour of Alexis and called it the Dynasty Diva Costume. Here it is shown below:

The stylish and classy shiny looking dress gives the impression of shoulder pads as it has big ruffled sleeves on the shoulder. The 80s feel is further emphasised by being coloured bright neon pink. Power dressing at its best!
So if you want to have a glamorous look for your 80s fancy dress party this is a good costume and it can be bought at a reasonable price!
Have a more detailed look at the Dynasty Diva Costume here at noodlenogs.co.uk. Of course, there are other websites that stock this costume and it's worth looking around for the best deal.
Either way best of luck with your 80s fancy dress party! And please give me any feedback or ideas you have regarding this or other 80s fancy dress.
